The Spektral faithful have definitely gotten an earful of LJ White’s “Zin zin zin zin” at some point along the way, given how much we love this piece! LJ uses Mos Def’s vocal breakdown on The Root’s cut “Double Trouble” as his point of departure, and the result is a riotous exchange – at times a zesty conversation and at others an outright altercation. We think it’s the perfect wrap to an extraordinary festival, and you’ll get a chance to hear numbers by composers like Nicole Mitchell, Marc Mellits, Marta Ptaszynska, Christopher Wendell Jones, and Aaron Cassidy played by our Chicago new-music comrades on the same show.
