Frank Lloyd Wright was a brilliant designer, a bit of a scoundrel in his personal life, and an international rockstar at a time when Europe was dismissive of the arts in America. Given that we live in a city with an enviable number of Frank Lloyd Wright-designed and -inspired homes, we are commandeering the ravishing Lang House and the Emil Bach House next door to immerse ourselves in architectural genius. Wright was changing the face of architecture at the same time that Schoenberg was indelibly upending harmony, so the Prairie-style Lang House marks the perfect venue for this performance–following a private tour of Wright’s Bach House to get in the mood for all things modern.
