Celebrity Series of Boston: Stave Sessions 2021

Please note: this event starts at 7pm (Central) / 8pm (Eastern)

We were particularly dispirited to lose our Celebrity Series of Boston debut to COVID, so it is with great pleasure that we announce our virtual performance on this esteemed series on April 23rd.

Crossing the divide between the 1500s to the 2010s, this program was recorded at two of our favorite Chicago venues that we’ve been missing dearly this past year: Constellation and the Harris Theater. With the exception of the motet we’ve arranged for quartet by Tomás de Luis de Victoria, all of these pieces are a glimpse inside Chicago’s ravishing new music scene. Composers Katherine Young, Gene Knific, and Tomeka Reid are all longtime friends and Chicago heavyweights, and even though he has moved west, former Chicago Symphony Orchestra Mead Composer-in-Residence Samuel Adams planned his Spektral commission while a resident of our fair city. Most importantly, this is a set of absolutely gripping music. Even experienced through the filter of the interwebs, we know that this performance is going to get you buzzing, no matter what time zone you occupy.

All you have to do is sign up at the Stave Sessions website and you get to name your own price for your ticket!

From the Celebrity Series of Boston website:
”Stave Sessions is a signature contemporary music series presented by the CelebritySeries of Boston. This year’s festival has gone digital, and unwinds over three evenings in a new streaming festival format from April 21-23 with the full slate of performances receiving a full-run encore presentation on Saturday, April 24. Featuring musical trailblazers, this series brings the excitement of live performances into homes around the world.

Highlighting musicians who take diverse approaches to their music, integrating musical training and non-conforming styles to deliver performances that defy standard labels, the seven performers included were all slated to perform on Stave Sessions in the spring of 2020 or 2021.”
