Holy smokes do we have the Help Desk special guest for you!
Tapped as Carnegie Hall’s Director of Artistic Planning in 2020, one of our favorite things about Ab Sengupta – besides the fact that he is a violist (WOOT!) – is that he inhabits a performer’s perspective in his role as a top-level music administrator. He is a New World Symphony alumnus and was formerly held principal jobs at both the Florida Philharmonic and Bergen (NJ) Philharmonic.
So what does catch the attention of programming decision-makers? Or for those that in recent years have been flirting with a career pivot, how can we be best-positioned for the transition? Amidst this current, cultural awakening within the arts, how do we honor (or reckon with) the past and celebrate the present in a meaningful way?
This is an absolutely can’t-miss New Music Help Desk! Just RSVP on the form below to receive the link.
The New Music Help Desk is a unique opportunity for composers and performers to get face time with Spektral – to ask pointed questions about notation, feasibility, tuning systems, harmonics, or simply how to stay motivated. Our aim is to use our skills to both build community and keep creativity flowing for artists hemmed in by the ongoing struggles of the past two seasons.
We will select a few questions in advance and then open it up to attendees using the Zoom Q&A feature. Which is to say, even if yours is not one of the few chosen beforehand, you can still ask us your question live during the event. If we don't get to your query this time around, have no fear. We’ll keep all submissions in the mix for future Help Desk sessions.
This is frankly a scary time for all of us in the arts. We hope the New Music Help Desk brings at least a little glimmer of hope and assistance to our fellow artists.
