Our aim is always to place the audience at the center of our concerts, but for our season opener, we’re getting literal about it. Recent works by Lee Weisert and Ryan Ingebritsen spread the quartet to the far corners of the room, the former bodily and the latter figuratively through amplification, enveloping the listener from every angle. We’ll bring it in tight for John Cage’s rumination on the seasons, String Quartet in Four Parts, Schubert’s grand-slam Quartettsatz, and Beethoven’s paragon of counterpoint, the stunning Große Fuge.
