With such a fantastic response to our recent Very Virtual Rehearsal of Anna Thorvaldsdottir’s Enigma, we’re swinging the doors of the Spektral studio open once again this November 13th. This time around, we’re polishing up Arnika, a marvelous little morsel of indie-pop deliciousness written by our dear friend, composer Gene Knific.
With Gene joining us on screen, we’ll examine and rehearse the many details that they employed in reimagining the source material – Sufjan Stevens’ Arnika – and address this piece’s biggest challenge: how to convincingly evoke the melancholy lyrics of the original…without words.
Arnika has only been on stage once before, at last season’s Behind the Wallpaper show at the Music Box Theatre, so we’re eager to share it with you in this intimate setting. Because we love hearing your reactions and fielding your questions in the moment, you’ll have the opportunity to join the conversation between us and Gene. Just RSVP with the form below!
You can read more about Gene and their Spektral commission over on the Spektral Blog and check out the promo video below from the Behind the Wallpaper event:
