Have you ever wondered how improvisors actually improvise – and if you have a handle on that – have you ever wondered what makes the great improvisors great? Well strap in. We have the absurdly talented vocalist Charmaine Lee joining us for the Floating Lounge this July. One of the most dynamic artists in the experimental music scene, she is one of the featured composers on our upcoming double album this summer and also one of our collaborative mentors as Spektral continues to explore the enigmatic territory of improvisation.

Charmaine will bring a stack of tracks with which to get our minds bent together and there’s a high likelihood you’ll be introduced to your new favorite artist(s) in the process. We’ll dig into her phenomenal piece on our album with you, of course, but we’ll also ask Charmaine to elucidate just how her practice of improvisation works. Spoiler alert: it’s crazy rigorous. But here's the best thing: CHARMAINE IS PERFORMING LIVE at the end of the show!

If you’re like us, you need moments of extreme creativity to stay inspired during this time – moments that will light up dormant corners of the brain. So grab your friends unafraid of the weird, and get ready to go a little sideways for this listening party.
