The Floating Lounge is a community-focused, online listening series produced by Spektral Quartet to bring curious listeners together during a time of isolation. Events will feature high-quality streaming audio, special guests, and an interactive format that invites listeners to join in on the conversation.
We were eager to be making our debut on the TIME:SPANS festival this summer, so when the (unsurprising) news arrived that the festival was canceled due to Covid-19, we knew we had to find a way to bring you an enticing slice of this celebratory Anthony Cheung portrait concert!
The real kismet here is that one of the pieces on this program was to be Anthony’s jaw-dropping Real Book of Fake Tunes – a piece we are about to release later this summer on our double-album Experiments in Living. So along with Anthony’s sure-to-be-grooving playlist, we’ll be sharing high-quality, never-before-heard tracks from this quintet with you in the interactive Floating Lounge format.
Quintet, you ask? Indeed. For this recording, we’re laying it down with none other than new-music flute superstar Claire Chase! As one of the most in-demand musicians in contemporary classical music, Claire is always on the move, so we’re happy to tell you that she’ll be live with us at the Lounge. With Claire’s charisma in the (virtual) room, you know this conversation is going to be absolutely captivating.
This is going to be one phenomenal listening party, so tell your people, and then RSVP right quick using the form below.
